Robert Kenney
Reno, NV
Free from the torment of Fibromyalgia (from Lyme disease) and life threatening Chronic Fatigue (viral infections)
Simply stated, Sierra Integrative Medical Center is the best medical center in the United States of which I am aware. During my medical odyssey I saw over 20 doctors and visited clinics in Arizona, Chicago, South Dakota, Texas, and Nevada. No one else had significant answers for me and most couldn’t even give me an informative diagnosis, other than Sierra. At my worst I could hardly get out of bed long enough to eat and digest my food. I had debilitating allergic reactions (thousands of them – up to 8 times a day) which caused inflammation in my head and throat, with swelling and pain that was unbearable. It felt as if my head would explode. For four years I could not be around other human beings for more than 10 minutes comfortably without substantial allergic reactions (to whatever they were wearing that smelled – even body odor). I went from coast to coast looking for clean air and a pollution free environment. I lived a tormented existence of isolation and previously debilitating fibromyalgia pain that became so unbearable I did not want to live and I said to one doctor, “please just sedate me to unconsciousness for a few weeks or a month. I can’t go on living like this.” I literally could not coexist with the elements of this planet (i.e., dust, pollen, pollution, and chemicals) or anyone on it. This condition is called “universal reactivity” and I was a classic case unfortunately. It was horrible. I felt like a second class citizen and a freak.
My downward spiral stopped when I first came to Sierra in 2000 after other doctors could not help and told me I had Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (they say this when they don’t know what’s causing your illness.) Sierra ran an extensive panel of tests which concluded I had elevated virus levels (HHV6 and Epstein Barr), mercury poisoning, Lyme disease, significant chemical sensitivity, significant pollen and mold allergies, poor circulation, and elevated liver enzymes. I was a total mess but it was nice to have a diagnosis and know specific causes of my medical problems instead of generalized labels. Now we could get to work. I asked if they could help me and they said, “We will do our best.” I could tell they were not intimidated by my health issues. With daily IV treatments in a very loving and encouraging atmosphere, I immediately felt hope, and the patients exchanged testimonies of encouragement from the treatments after many had found all other treatments at various clinics of no avail. Some felt like “medical guinea pigs” elsewhere who were being experimented on, but were getting no where.
Within a few days I could talk more (I was too weak to utter a single word many days previously). I felt hope. I felt I could recover since I met others here with great recovery stories regarding fatigue, multiple sclerosis, and other auto-immune diseases. It took time, work and diligence, but I began to recover. IV’s I had tried at other clinics weren’t as strong therapeutically for me so I just decided to move to Reno permanently to finish up my treatments and try to get my life back. A great clinic must use great ingredients (IV’s, supplements, homeopathics, etc.) and have great doctors. I have found both at Sierra and have not found anywhere else that remotely compares. I now have my life back again when even doctors told me that might be impossible. I can work, play, go out to eat, hike, and run, and go to movies – none of which could I do before. I am still a work in progress but my life is literally 10 times better than it was before I came to the Sierra Integrative Medical Center. I owe my life to them. I love them, and really they love me too and the rest of their patients. Thank God for Sierra Integrative Medical Center. I believe they can be a great blessing for you as well.
