Lyme Disease & Food Allergies
My introduction to Sierra Integrative Medical Center (SIMC) started when I accompanied my wife Julie, who was recovering from severe mercury poisoning and suffering from food allergies. The thoroughness of Julie’s exam and the genuine concern and professionalism of the SIMC staff made me ask myself the question, - would I benefit from a more thorough exam? My yearly physical at our local clinic gave me a clean bill of health and I generally felt good, except for some aches and pains that I attributed to aging.
My initial exam, which included a blood screen, and circulatory test showed my carotid to be 50% plugged and a general deteriation of my circulatory system. In addition, Lyme disease was present in my system, and numerous food allergies were apparent. What a wake up call for me! My father had just had a severe stroke at 80 years of age and it looked like I was on the road to being a “chip off the old block.”
Another testimonial to the knowledge and effectiveness of the staff at SIMC occurred during my 2nd visit. I had developed a severe sciatic problem and was unable to sleep in a bed for 4 months. My lazy-boy chair or laying on the floor with my legs elevated on the sofa, were the only comfortable means to sleep at night. Weekly trips to the chiropractor didn’t help the problem. When I arrived at the clinic I told the doctor about my problem. The next day I received an injection of in 5 locations on the back of my troubled leg and hip. That night I went to the motel and slept in a bed for the first time in 4 months. No additional treatment was needed and no recurrence of the problem has occurred since.
As I begin to understand how lyme disease works, I believe that my lower back and joint aches were attributable to lyme disease. Since undergoing treatment at SIMC, the joint aches and lower back pains have disappeared.
Julie and I plan an annual weekly visit to SIMC as a way to keep our lives in balance. The patients we’ve met during our time at SIMC are walking, talking proof of the effectiveness of this alternative, complimentary type of medical treatment.
